Goodbye Kurloz [Sadstuck]

You sat there holding your matesprit,
there life slowly slipping away.
His purple blood staining your clothes.
You didn't care...
why would you?
You’re too busy crying to care.
Slowly he raises his hand to your hair.
Even as he's dying,
he's trying to comfort you.
Clenching onto his body you hug his warmth,
His arms slowly snake around you and rub you back as if to say  

‘It'll be alright’.

This only makes you cry harder.
Suddenly your matesprit begin’s coughing violently.
Blood seeping through his stitched lips,
all you can do is sit there and watch in horror as your matesprit suffers.
Eventually he settles but continues drawing in deep labored breaths.
Gently you shift his body so he can rest his head on your lap.
Returning his earlier gesture you brush through his coarse black hair.

Gradually his eyes slowly begin to illuminate purple.
Successfully establishing a connection in your mind,
you hear his voice whisper

“[Name]?”

Hearing his voice for the first time you're overjoyed,
but the feeling quickly fades as you hear how weak it is.
You nod slightly to show that you can hear him.
Giving you a small smile he whispers to you

"Sorry [Name] looks like I'll be going first"

Instantly fresh tear well up in your eyes.

"I'm- so sorry ....
This is all my fault"
Gripping your hand
he draws it to his chest.
Covering his slowly beating heart.

"No...
I will never regret protecting you."

Slowly reaching up to stroke your cheek
with his blood covered hand,
he draws a heart.
Not to last long,
it smears with a tear trail running through the middle.

"Flushed for you."

Your voiced cracking as you try to hold back more of the tears that threaten to fall.
Not wanting this to be the last thing your matesprit saw,
you try to smile for him.

"Flushed for you too [Name]."

The glowing purple light slowly fading from his eyes,
the warmth leaving his body,
he goes motionless.

Embracing your matesprit for the last time.

"Good bye Kurloz..."
